It is not a welcome situation especially when you are in the midst of an important work. So many times the same question arises in the mind of many people about how to speed up my computer?

In this discussion we are trying to solve the problem to some extent. The tools those are available in the operating system of Microsoft Windows XP (Service Pack 3) or Microsoft Vista can guide you through the process of speeding up your precious machine.

Disk Defragmenter is another utility tool that can enhance the by and large performance of the computer. As the files get fragmented it takes sufficient time to locate the files to be opened while the files are being searched in the hard disk.

The Disk Defragmenter merges the files those are fragmented, to absorb a particular space, and the disk space is freed up to 15% or lesser than that. The disk may be full and lack of space can create the problem. So, you can make space available by making it free.

The Disk Cleanup tool is smart enough to locate the files that can be removed. Besides the functions of Disk Defragmenter and Disk Cleanup Detect and Repair Disk Errors is another tool that can help in speeding up the computer and increase overall performance. The utility of Error Checking can help you to ensure the uprightness of the stored files in the system’s hard disk.

Some dire sectors may develop as the usage of the hard disk goes on. Such sectors which have become bad can cause your system to run slow. So, this utility can help in making your computer run fast

All hopes for defrag neednt be lost if 15% free space cant be freed up since third party defragger like Diskeeper does efficient defrags even with as less as 5% free space. It can also be set to defrag on automatic mode, to prevent fragmentation from crossing dangerous levels.
